Did you know that beets improve athletic performance? 🏃🏿♀️🏋🏼♂️ 🏊🏾♀️ Drinking beet juice 1 to 3 hours before an athletic event can provide a 1 to 3 percent boost in performance–enough to give you a serious competitive edge. That’s because beets raise nitric oxide levels, which increase blood flow, improve lung function, and strengthen muscle contraction.

Recipe: Beet Berry Bliss
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Good For: Beverage
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup fresh beets
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 3 pitted dates
- 1 tb of chia
- 1 tb of sunflower seeds
- 1.5 cup of plant milk
Instructions:
- Lightly peel the skin of your beet (leaving it on is optional, but it does give the smoothie a more earthy taste).
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth, scraping down sides if necessary.
- Taste and adjust flavor as needed.
Notes:
- Add more milk if too thick.
- Freezes well to make into popsicles.
